Winery Information

Clemens Busch is an iconic Riesling producer based in Punderich, Mosel, Germany. Clemens Busch has become one of the selected members of VDP, a new in-house classification defining German wines by quality, not by the sweetness level. VDP divides into 4 quality levels, namely, “Grosse Lage” (Great Growth), “Erste Lage” (First Growth), “Ortswein” (Village wine), “Gutswein” (Regional wine). Clemens’ specialty lies in “GROSSES GEWACHS” - GG, which is a dry wine from the top growth ‘Grosse Lage’.
Each wine from individual parcel reflects the unique soil type and its micro-climate.
Clemens Busch is a certified organic wine estate, with biodynamic viticulture.

Wine Note
100% Riesling (Dry White) (2013) With 12.5% alcohol, Clemens Busch's 2013 Pündericher Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling trocken GG is much less weighty than, for example, the 2011. The nose reveals an attractive mix of powdered stones, lemon oil and ripe apples. Full-bodied and really racy on the palate, this lovely pure but rich and piquant Riesling is full of thrill and tension and the salty finish is enormously long and dividing boys from men. This is a fishermen's friend in wine: if it's too tart for your taste you are too weak. This is a Riesling made for Vikings. - By Wine Adocate 92+ points -
(2011) The Busch 2011 Pundericher Marienburg Fahrlay Riesling Grosses Gewachs manages to combine power and weight (at over 14% alcohol) with interplay of flavor, smoky, toasty nutty notes cavorting with high-toned citrus oil and distilled pit fruit essences as well as stone and alkali, and leading to a finish of substantial grip, albeit accompanied by a hint of heat, which Busch says he didn’t detect before its recent bottling, and expects will quickly recede. - By Wine Advocate -

Pair with seafood, smoked fish, veal, pork chops, goat cheese, sushi/sashimi, dim sum and soft shell crab.
