Wine Advocate
Since the 2013 Marienburg Fahrlay Terrassen Riesling ended up with 12% alcohol and 15.2 grams per liter of residual sugar, it is not labeled as Grosses Gewächs, but as what it is: Riesling. The wine is surely a grand cru if you accept that Riesling can taste dry even if it is analytically not dry. Lovely bright fruit and blue slate and flint flavors on the nose open to a medium to full-bodied, lingering juicy and playful, racy Riesling full of tension and sensual generosity. The finish is long and vigorous, the wine beautifully piquant and stitching on your tongue. The (off-dry) Terrassen is more accessible than the (dry) Grosses Gewächs but has, most likely, the greater aging potential.

Winery Information
Clemens Busch is an iconic Riesling producer based in Punderich, Mosel, Germany. Clemens Busch has become one of the selected members of VDP, a new in-house classification defining German wines by quality, not by the sweetness level. VDP divides into 4 quality levels, namely, “Grosse Lage” (Great Growth), “Erste Lage” (First Growth), “Ortswein” (Village wine), “Gutswein” (Regional wine). Clemens’ specialty lies in “GROSSES GEWACHS” - GG, which is a dry wine from the top growth ‘Grosse Lage’.
Each wine from individual parcel reflects the unique soil type and its micro-climate.
Clemens Busch is a certified organic wine estate, with biodynamic viticulture.

(2009) Superb ripe yellow fruits such as tangerine, apricot and honey notes are presented with vivid acidity and long length. There is 11-12 g/L sugar in the wine. Very intense aromas pleasing the nose and endless finish proves this is e of Clemens best kept wine to be enjoyed now and keep it for another 10 years.

Pairing
Pair with chicken with creamy sauce, pork belly, goose, mild curries, south-east Asian dishes and sweet & sour dishes.
