Wine Advocate
Overripe peach and pear dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg and drizzled with honey and salted caramel make for a confitured and confectionary impression from Busch’s 2011 Pundericher Marienburg Rothenpfad Riesling Auslese, whose creaminess and sense of levity are striking. Here, purity and polish are allied to an upwelling of primary juiciness and saliva-inducing salinity, and although extremely sweet, the finish nevertheless calls forth the next sip. I would plan on following this for at least a decade and wouldn’t be surprised if it reveals considerably more stamina than that, as well as greater nuance than it’s currently displaying.

Winery Information
Clemens Busch is an iconic Riesling producer based in Punderich, Mosel, Germany. Clemens Busch has become one of the selected members of VDP, a new in-house classification defining German wines by quality, not by the sweetness level. VDP divides into 4 quality levels, namely, “Grosse Lage” (Great Growth), “Erste Lage” (First Growth), “Ortswein” (Village wine), “Gutswein” (Regional wine). Clemens’ specialty lies in “GROSSES GEWACHS” - GG, which is a dry wine from the top growth ‘Grosse Lage’.
Each wine from individual parcel reflects the unique soil type and its micro-climate.
Clemens Busch is a certified organic wine estate, with biodynamic viticulture.
