Item No.: 153294
Grape: Pinot Noir
Rating: WA89 & WS92
The NV Brut Rose is a relatively round, supple Champagne with an attractive core of fruit. The wine offers excellent length and lovely overall balance, if not quite the pedigree of the house's finest wines. Disgorged: February, 2009, (not indicated on the label). The NV Brut Rose is also produced from vineyards in the Sezanne, with 60% Pinot Noir vinified saignee-style and 40% Chardonnay.
Bright and lively, offering notes of fresh-cut pink grapefruit, black cherry and peach, with hints of spice cake, tea rose and fresh ginger. There's good intensity to this, but with the refined bead the wine seems elegant overall. Delicious.
Guy Charlemagne is a quality driven, 'Grand Cru' grower champagne, situated in the heart of Côte des Blancs, in the grand cru village of Le Mesnil- sur-Oger, where Chardonnay grape is exclusively planted on limestone soils. The house style is characterised with finesse, minerality and distinctive fresh acidity - a great reflection of its grand cru terroir.
Made of 100% Pinot Noir, the colour is obtained by macerating the grapes with the juice, giving it the colour typical of "Rose de Saignee". It is vinified in thermo regulated stainless steel and matured for 2 years in cellars, with subtle dosage of 8g/l. A fine stream of bubbles underline a deep rose colour. The warm nose shows ripe berry aromas of blackberries and cherries in alcohol. Its elegant mouth is dominated by cassis, blackberry and strawberry jam notes.
Pair with lobster, scallop raviolis with vanilla and saffron, smoke salmon with blinis or red berry tart.
