The wines of Tour Saint Michel have been dramatically rising in quality over the recent vintages. Owned by two women, Elaine Fabre and her daughter, Mireille Porte, assisted by well known consultant Xavier Vignon, this large estate was created in 1930. Over the last four or five years that they have been winning accolades at various wine judgings in France, and have garnered considerable attention for the quality of their wines. If you haven't caught on to Tour St. Michel, it's about time, as this is a major up and coming estate. -Robert Parker-

The Scagliola family has produced wine for four generations in Calosso, a small village in southern Piedmont on the last hills of Monferrato, on the edge of the Langhe. The family has been dedicated to the cultivation of its vineyards using healthy, careful and clean vine growing techniques, in full respect of nature and the biological balance of the vines, with low yields per hectare.

This winery began its production in the 1950’s under the guidance of Giuseppe Damonte. Giuseppe was a visionary, understanding that in the 50’s, the Roero had not yet maximized its vineyard and thus grape-growing potential. Today the estate is run by Massimo and Roberto Damonte, Gui- seppe’s sons, who inherited their father’s passion for wine making.
